Belly Dance

Price
based on 6 weeks:

Class structure is based on a Western format of clear movement
breakdowns, drilling the basics, hands on corrections and integrating
movements through combinations, choreography and improvisational
exercises.
Beginner
Students will learn new movements each class, building
coordination, grace, strength, and flexibility. Come
to discover the joy of this organic dance form and celebrate
movement through an ancient, life-embracing art!
Learn and
practice basic technique including proper stance and
posture, arm carriage and patterns, fundamental shimmies,
isolations, introductory undulations and figure eights.
Begin exploring Middle Eastern music rhythms and structure.
A sensual choreography will be taught to incorporate new movements.
No prior experience necessary.
Intermediate
Expand your movement base to include foundational undulations and
accents, turns and travelling steps. Dance more complex
combinations and floor patterns. Drills and a final choreography will be
taught. Basic patterns with the finger cimbals.
Advanced I
Refine and master technique through advanced combinations and
learning more intricate footwork. Emphasis is placed on
spins, entrance steps, speed and layering. This level includes two
choreographies using slow and fast music with the veil,
finger cimbals, and more!
Advanced
II
Concentrate on components for raqs sharqi performance sets, including
more advanced turns, entrance veil work, finger cimbals and drum solos.
Emphasis is on emotional expression, improvisation and musical
interpretation. Two amazing choreographies are taught using the props.
Belly for
Children
In this course we provide a fun form of fitness, physical
self-expression and a basis for dance appreciation. The
program is designed for children with little or no dance
background.
** Belly dancing students will need
a Hip Scarf, Finger Cimbals and a Veil for some classes. All
of these items are available for use and/or purchase at our
studio**

Latin/Ballroom Dances
Price:
12 weeks -> $120 pp
Beginner
This is an
introductory course, which gives a foundation of
movement for students who have had little or no
dance experience. Feeling in the Dancing with
the Stars mood? In this course, students will
learn the basics in Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha,
and Jive.
Emphasis will be on the development of
partnering skills, lead and follow, the basic
principles of timing, as well as basic foot work
and variations of simple figures.
No prior experience necessary.
Intermediate I
In this level the basic footwork
and timing of Salsa will be introduced, as well as
Merengue. Simple sequences will be taught.
This course is a continuation for
students who have completed Beginner Level or possess a good
understanding of the basic patterns of Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha,
and Jive; and the principles of timing and partnering.
Emphasis will be on the continuing development of partnering
skills, lead and follow, dance floor etiquette, a good
understanding of timing, and the ability to execute more
complicated Rumba, Cha Cha, Jive and Merengue sequences. New steps
and turn patterns will be introduced and linked together to
develop new combinations.
Intermediate II
The Intermediate II focus will
refine and reinforce the principles and technique taught
before in Waltz, Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, Jive, Foxtrot and Merengue. Emphasis will
be on new and more challenging combinations to add to an
already existing dance repertoire. Timing will constantly be
reinforced which will aid the students in their ability to
combine various dance combinations with ease.
Advanced
This level is a continuation for
students who have completed Intermediate II. In this level
the basic footwork and timing of Samba will and
Viennesse Waltz be introduced,
as well as, simple traveling steps and turns. Simple
sequences will be taught.
More intricate patterns and
combinations are introduced with greater emphasis on speed,
timing and co-ordination for Standard Waltz, Rumba, Salsa and
Cha Cha, Jive, Foxtrot and Merengue. Further development of partnering skills will be
taught therefore, making the lead delicate, yet effective
without requiring muscle. The focus will be on teaching
'leaders' to have a clear concise lead with accuracy in
timing while 'followers' become more receptive, resulting in
smooth controlled movement.

Yoga
Practicing this class with certified instructors Jennifer
and Cathy, it not only improves health and well being, but
also brings the necessary balance within oneself to
experience higher levels of energy. All levels are welcome!
Jazz/Hip
Hop
This class is designed to teach the basics of Jazz/Hip Hop
dances in a confortable and relaxed environment. Throughout
the course you will learn to execute a proper dance warm-up,
basics across the room, and how to put together different
combinations to have fun and exercise. Get ready to sweat!
Mambo
Mommas & Pre-Natal Fitness
Two programs for moms-to-be and new moms. These classes are
about moving your hips and feel the music. The classes are
divided in 20 minutes aerobics, 20 minutes Yoga and 20
minutes Pilares! These courses will remind the young
momsthat they are still cool, sexy and beautiful in the m
ost important stage of their life. For the Mambo Mommas the
only requirement is to bring the baby, and for the
Pre-Natal, you have to be pregnant!
